This small town is located about 6 killometers north of Angkor, one the most important and significant archaeological sites in the world. Created by the Khmer Empire during its golden age of 9th through 14th century, this vast UNESCO World Heritage Site is about the size of New Orleans covering over 400 square kilometers. There are more than 1000 temples in the Angkor region, including some well-known major temples such as Angkor Wat and Ta Prohm, where the movie Tomb Raider was filmed. What's really amazing about Angkor is how well these magnificent relics of Khmer Empire is preserved, leaving everyone who steps into the temple overwhelmed by its shear size, beauty and symmetry a thousand years later.
